For RS485 serial data connections in industrial and building control systems. This 120 ohm cable family uses tinned copper conductors and foam PE or foam skin PE insulation. Four screening constructions allow selection of overall foil, foil with braid, individual pair foil with overall braid, or overall braid.
Basic design adapted to EIA/TIA 485
Flame Retardance (Single Vertical Wire Test) : BS EN 60332-1-2
Conductors: Tinned copper wire, stranded according to IEC 60228 class 2 or class5.
Insulation: Foam PE or foam skin PE.
Cabling Elements: Insulated cores are twisted to form pairs with varying lay length to minimize crosstalk.
Two pair cable had four cores laid in quad formation.
Cabling: Pairs are cabled together in concentric layers.
Overall Screen: Aluminum/polyester tape with tinned copper drain wire.
Outer Sheath: Thermoplastic PVC compound.
Outer Sheath Option: UV resistance, hydrocarbon resistance, oil resistance, anti-rodent and anti-termite properties can be offered as option. Compliance to fire performance standard (IEC 60332-1, IEC 60332-3, UL 1581, UL 1666 etc) depends on the oxygen index of the PVC compound and the overall cable design. LSPVC can also be provided upon request.

120 ohm impedance with foam PE or foam skin PE insulation.
Four screening families with separate construction and dimension tables.
PVC outer sheath; flame retardance to BS EN 60332-1-2.
Select screening construction, number of pairs, conductor area and conductor class. Use the matching family table for cable diameter and weight; coordinate terminations with the RS485 equipment.
Explore these instrumentation cable families for other signal wiring requirements:
Multipair Instrumentation Cable, Individual and Overall Screened, XLPE/PVC
Multicore Instrumentation Cable, Overall Screened, SWA, XLPE/PVC
The listed cable impedance is 120 ohms.
Overall foil; overall foil with copper braid; individual pair foil with overall copper braid; or overall copper braid.
The four insulated cores are laid in a quad formation, as described in the construction sections.
The dimension tables cover 0.22, 0.50, 0.75 and 1.00 mm² conductors, each in 1, 2 and 4 pair arrangements.
The insulation is foam PE or foam skin PE, and the standard outer sheath is thermoplastic PVC.
